If you intend to hire Get WordPressed for a project, we will require Control Panel access to your web hosting account to simplify the process.
However, for security purposes, if you do not wish to give us access, that’s certainly understandable. If that’s the case, then you will need to manually create and grant us access to the resources we’ll need, which are as follows:
- A new, empty MySQL database
- The exact path to the database
- The database name
- The database username
- The database password
- The ftp path – Exact URL
- The ftp username
- The ftp password
- Access to the .htacesss file for changing Permalinks
Question:
What if you don’t know these things?
Answer:
Then phone your web host, and get the information from the support department.
Question:
What if you’re considering a site conversion, but don’t know if you’re ready to hand over access to strangers at this time?
Answer:
Go ahead and work with your web host to install WordPress into a directory, and make sure that the root .htaccess is writable.
Then, just give us limited FTP access to that directory, and create an admin login for WordPress, and we’ll take care of the rest.
